Troubleshooting
Problem
Critical updates affecting IBM Content Collector (ICC) for SharePoint and Microsoft Exchange Online due to Microsoft’s deprecation of certain technologies.
Affected Products
• IBM Content Collector for SharePoint Online
• IBM Content Collector for Microsoft Exchange Online
Cause
Issue 1: Deprecation of AzureAD PowerShell Module
Microsoft has officially deprecated the AzureAD, AzureADPreview, and MSOnline PowerShell modules as of March 30, 2024. These modules will remain functional until March 30, 2025, but support will be limited to critical security fixes only.
Impact
- New app registrations for SharePoint and Microsoft Exchange Online will not work after March 30, 2025.
Issue 2: End of Support for SharePoint Add-ins
Microsoft is phasing out support for the SharePoint Add-in model, impacting IBM Content Collector’s ability to integrate with SharePoint Online.
Impact on ICC for SharePoint Online
- ICC deploys the IBM Content Collector App and IBM Content Collector Restore App as SharePoint add-ins.
- For existing tenants, ICC continues to function but will cease to work after April 2026.
- For new tenants, ICC is already non-functional as Microsoft has stopped supporting new add-ins.
IBM is actively working on a solution to address these changes. Further updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
