Error description
This is the APAR for z/VM 7.4 Feature Pack 1. As such it contains the following new functions: Two-Speed Monitoring ------------------------- Two-Speed Monitoring provides a mechanism for collecting z/VM Monitor data at two different sampling rates. The underlying requirement is to be able to allow some guests to collect detailed data for a relatively brief period so it can be preserved if a situation arises that requires it for analysis, while allowing other guests to collect data less frequently and over longer time periods for customary purposes such as real-time monitoring or feeding the z/VM Performance Data Pump. This avoids disrupting existing client processes that rely on Monitor data collection. TRSOURCE Subchannel Set Support ---------------------------------------- TRSOURCE currently supports 4-digit device addresses for IO tracing. This item extends the support to 5-digit device addresses, which comprise a subchannel-set (SS) number concatenated to the left of the device address. This applies only to real device addresses and therefore to the operand of the TRSOURCE command RDEV keyword.

A new SUBINTERVAL operand of the MONITOR SAMPLE command can be specified to define the subinterval duration. QUERY MONITOR reports the SUBINTERVAL value. MONWRITE accepts a new option to enable it to collect subinterval data. See the CP Commands and Utilities Reference for more information about these commands and their responses. Several messages - HCP6225, HCP6232E, HCP6255I and HCP6264I have been added or changed. They are described in CP Messages and Codes. TRSOURCE IO 5-digit Device Support ---------------------------------- TRSOURCE currently supports 4-digit device addresses for IO tracing. Refer to the CP Commands and Utilities Reference for more information about the changes to the TRSOURCE and QUERY TRSOURCE commands.
