Error description
The CHECKIN LIBVOLUME command for SCSI libraries documentation in the Administrative Commands section needs an update to include limitation for the SEARCH parameter. The restriction for the SEARCH=NO parameter and provided volume name is that the media cartridge must be at the first Bulk/Entry-Exit slot if the user puts the target cartridge to an Entry-Exit port of the library. If the target is not at the first slot, then the server will not check specified target volume into the library. IBM Storage Protect Versions Affected: IBM Storage Protect server on all platforms Additional Keywords: Spectrum Protect; CHECKIN; LIBVOLUME; SEARCH=NO; Bulk; TS017990651

Problem conclusion
This problem was fixed. Affected platforms: AIX, Linux, and Windows. ANR8426E CHECKIN LIBVOLUME for volume ABCDEFGH in library XYZ failed. Explanation The background process for a CHECKIN LIBVOLUME command has failed. SystemAction The background process ends, but the volume has not been checked into the library. UserResponse For manual library, make sure the library and drive devices that associated with this command are powered on and ready, and then reissue the command. For SCSI library, if SEARCH=NO is used, the server selects only the volume in the first entry-exit port for the target volume location. Make sure that the target volume locates in the first entry-exit port, and then reissue the command.
