Upgrading a system within a FlashSystem grid to 8.7.3 or later

Summary

From 8.7.3 onwards, the FlashSystem grid feature requires that truststores contain only the root certificate for each member system.

When upgrading from 8.7.2 or earlier to 8.7.3 or later, if a truststore used for FlashSystem grid contains more than one certificate, the software upgrade test utility will produce an error. The procedure below will allow the system to upgrade.

If the test utility does not report an error when upgrading, these steps are not required.

Steps

  1. Prepare the system for update
    Using the management GUI, prepare the update of the system by running the software upgrade test utility. If the test utility fails with an error due to truststores containing multiple certificates, follow the steps below to update the system .
  2. Remove member systems from the FlashSystem grid .
    Using the management GUI or the svctask manageflashgrid CLI command, remove all member systems from the FlashSystem grid.
  3. Re-run the software upgrade test utility.  
    Check that the software upgrade test utility no longer reports any errors.
  4. Update the systems.
    Update the coordinator system and all member systems of the FlashSystem grid to software version 8.7.3.
  5. Add the updated systems back to the FlashSystem grid.
    After the update to software version 8.7.3 is complete, use the management GUI to add the member systems back to the FlashSystem grid.
