IBM Storage Fusion 2.9.0 hotfix

Download and apply the hotfix for IBM Storage Fusion to resolve issues in Backup & Restore service 2.9.0.

Follow the instructions to apply this hotfix:

  1. For offline environments, use the following script to mirror hotfix images to offline registry before applying hotfix:
    br-290patch-offline-mirror.sh.
  2. Download the br-post-install-patch-290.sh and apply it as follows:
    • Run the following command to apply the patch.
      Note: Make sure you are logged in to the cluster from CLI.

      chmod +x <br-post-install-patch-290.sh>

      For HCI: br-post-install-patch-290.sh -hci 
      For SDS: br-post-install-patch-290.sh -sds

This hotfix fixes the following Backup & Restore issues:

  • Backup fails with error transferring data (BMYBR0009): more than one BackupRepository found for workload namespace.
  • Backup failure on OpenShift Container Platform 4.12.
  • Restore failure with an unexpected error such as HTTP Error 403: Forbidden.
  • DeleteBackupRequest fails if application CR is re-created by Service Protection recovery.
  • Job fails with DownloadRequest error from transaction-manager.
  • Failed job remains running until cancellation timeout.
  • Restore from 2.8 backup fails if application contains multiple namespaces.
  • Restore from 2.8 backup fails with SELinux extended attributes errors.
  • Unexpected failure: HTTP Error 403: Forbidden on restore.
  • Delete backup requests in Redundant state included in cleanup.
  • Backups not starting when backup status.totalBackupsCapacity is -1.
  • Service protection recipe incorrect on custom namespace installation.
  • Job manager error checking for idle jobs.
  • Error getting VirtualMachineSnapshot status.
  • Datamover (type: kopia) pod does not start due to node addition or replacement due to pull policy Never. 
  • Fixes duplicate BackupRepository error on backup or restore.
  • Restic backups not being deleted after upgrade to 2.9.
  • Check if snapshot exists during DBR processing so that it does not fail.
  • BackupRepository ownerReference should be Velero BSL.
