PH64846: GCMDS COMMAND DOESN'T DISPLAY THE GENERATED COMMANDS NOR BATCH JOB THE SECOND TIME ON PANEL ADBGCMDS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• GCMDS command:
  
  When using the GCMDS command the second time within the same
  TSO session, options 1 and 2 on panel ADBGCMDS do not display
  the generated commands nor batch job respectively.  Instead, it
  returns to panel ADBGCMDS.
  
  Observation:
  Explicitly entering the SAVE command on edit session panel
  ADB2EDIT or changing the data gets around the incident.
  However, doing this should not be required from a "look 'n feel"
  and usability perspective.
  
  
  GCMDS CANcel edit command issue:
  If the SAVE command is entered on edit session panel ADB2EDIT,
  the CANcel command does not cancel generating and displaying the
  commands (if option 1 is selected) nor does it cancel the
  display of the generated batch job (if option 2 is selected).

  When using the GCMDS command the second time within the same TSO
  session, the process will return to
  panel ADBGCMDS 'Generate Commands' without displaying the
  generated commands. This is expected behavior if no additional
  edit changes were made on GCMDS edit session panel ADB2EDIT.
  To clarify this, the following message will
  appear on panel ADBGCMDS:
  
  ISPZ000 RC=4: No edit updates have been made.
  Output <outputDsn> is unchanged.
  

Problem conclusion

• The issue has been resolved.
