Inventory Reservations

General Page

When a work order is approved, inventory reservations are created for the planned items. The reservations can be viewed and modified with the Add/ Modify Reservation action in the Inventory and Inventory Usage applications.

When reapproving the Work Order, the issue and return records are considered against the reservation created.

Returned items are considered against reservation. Thus, if the issued item is already returned, a new reservation is created for the returned items on reapproval of the work order. The reserved quantity on the work order cannot exceed the planned quantity for that particular item in the return scenario, that is, even if you return more than what is issued.

Implementation of mxe.app.inventor.useIssuedQtyAgainstReservations system property

The mxe.app.inventor.useIssuedQtyAgainstReservations property is implemented to select whether the system should only consider the issue and return records made against reservations, or all the issue and return records for a particular item must be considered while recreating the reservation.

When the property is not enabled

The default behavior, is that it will map the planned item records with the actual item records, for issue and return of the item, made against the already created reservations for that particular work order. These issue and return records against reservations can be created using the Select Reserved Items / Select Items for Return option in the Inventory Usage application. Alternatively, you can also use the Select Reserved Items option in the Actuals tab in the Work Order Tracking application.

When the property is enabled

While recreating reservations, it maps the planned item records to the actual item records. It also considers the remaining total quantity issued for that particular item, not issued / returned against reservation, and associated to that work order.

Implementation of mxe.app.wpmaterial.enablewpitem system property

The property is implemented to validate the planned item quantity.

When the property is not enabled

When the value of mxe.app.wpmaterial.enablewpitem is set to 0, when you modify or delete materials on the Plans tab, the system displays an error based on whether the total quantity issued to the work order matches the new planned quantity for that item. This is how IBM Maximo Manage is designed to handle such scenarios by default.

When the property is enabled

When the value of mxe.app.wpmaterial.enablewpitem is set to 1, when modifying or deleting materials on the Plans tab there will be a match of the corresponding line on the Actuals tab using WPITEMID. When user tries to update a quantity on the Plans tab, an error is displayed or not is based on the quantity issued to the work order for that item line and not the total item quantity issued to the work order.

Planned Items with Direct Issue

There is no reservation created for a direct issue. A PO is eventually created to get the item needed.
