How To
Summary
Till Db2 V11.5.9, Db2 provides single 32-bit installer of IBM Database Add-ins for Visual Studio and starting with version 12.1, there are two separate installers - one for 32-bit and another one for 64-bit Visual Studio versions.
Hence, while selecting installer of IBM Database Add-ins for Visual Studio, best practices outlined under the "Steps" section need to be considered.
Environment
Microsoft Visual Studio on Windows
Steps
- The 12.1 installers should only be downloaded from
https://early-access.ibm.com/software/support/trial/cst/programwebsite.wss?siteId=851&h=null&tabId= - IBM Database Add-ins available from other sources (The Db2 Server image, Passport advantage) may have known issues and are not recommended for 12.1 release.
- 32-bit installs at default path of C:\Program Files (x86) and the 64-bit installs at default path of C:\Program Files and they should not be altered for 12.1 installations.
- 32-bit installer installs for Visual Studio version 2019 and 2017 while 64-bit installs for Visual Studio 2022.
- As mentioned in the other technote (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7178500), only one of 32-bit or 64-bit can exist at a time on any machine.
- These known limitations of 12.1 will be addressed in upcoming releases.
