Summary
On eBMC systems with firmware level 1050 or higher, a targeted ACF file can be generated that will allow users to reset the admin password.
Objective
Chatbot can now help you through resetting the eBMC admin password instead of calling into IBM Support.
Environment
Any eBMC system at FW1050 or higher
Steps
1. Access the mysupport portal at IBM https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/ and first login for this feature:
2. After logging in, click the Chatbot icon located at the lower right corner.
3. Select "Ask a Product Question" as the option to proceed.
4. Query examples to reach the admin password reset for eBMC, by MTM or by the IBM Power Sxxx:
"eBMC admin password reset"
"S1024 admin password reset"
"9105-41A admin password reset"
5. Chatbot flow:
6. With the ACF file downloaded from the Chatbot, next check the email address associated with the IBM id for further instructions.
The email contains the following Subject and Sender information and with steps to reset the admin password on the eBMC system.
- Subject: IBM Power Servers eBMC admin password reset
- From: IBMPowerServersNotification@ibm.com <IBMPowerServersNotification@ibm.com>
NOTE: If the system is connected to HMCs using the admin ID, access the HMCs and update the access password to clear the failed authentication state.
