PH64008: OBJECT COMPARE FAILS TO KEEP COMMENT WHEN ALTERING VIEW COLUMNS

Error description

• When altering the columns of a view, it's possible for Compare
  to delete the comment if the view is dropped and recreated. This
  can lead to a loss of information. Compare should maintain the
  comment on the view if the alters don't remove it.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When editing the DDL of a view in the   *
  *                      catalog using the ALT line command,     *
  *                      the resulting change deletes any        *
  *                      comments on the view.                   *
  ****************************************************************
  When issuing an ALT line command on a view in the catalog, Db2
  Admin Tool generates the DDL to edit. This generation omits
  any comments on the view. The resulting DDL changes are then
  passed to Compare. Because Db2 Admin Tool did not generate the
  comment, Compare erroneously assumes the comment has been
  deleted. This assumption causes the comment to be lost when
  the view is recreated.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved.
  When issuing ALT on a view, Db2 Admin Tool generates any
  comments attached to it so that Compare does not delete comments
  when recreating the view. Any changes to the comment or its
  deletion during the ALT process will be reflected in the
  resulting changes. This fix now makes the behavior consistent
  with labels on a view.
