How to identify fcs# port (allocated to PowerVM VIOS) in the back of the Power system

How To

Summary

A fibre channel adapter port (fcs#) allocated to PowerVM VIOS LPAR is reporting errors, and the recommendation is to replace the fibre cable.
How can I determine where the physical fibre channel port (fcs#) is located in the back of the Power system so I can replace the cable?

Environment

PowerVM VIOS 3.1 and 4.1

Steps

The physical FC adapter location code is key.
1.  Log in to the VIOS as padmin user.
2.  List all FC adapter ports and take note of the physical location code for the FC port in question
$ lsdev -type adapter|grep fcs
Sample output:

fcs5 Available 02-01 U78CD.001.FZHVXXX-P1-C1-T2 PCIe3 2-Port 16Gb FC Adapter (df1000e21410f103)

where FZHVXXX is the serial number, C1 is the card position, and T2 is the port.
