Abstract

Continuous Delivery lifecycle policy for IBM Workload Scheduler

Content

Starting with V10.2, IBM Workload Scheduler has adopted a Continuous Delivery (CD) software support lifecycle policy, which translates into a better, more consistent customer support experience. The continuous delivery approach is structured so that customers get the maximum
value out of their software products by receiving frequent, scheduled updates that carry all the enhancements they request. IBM Workload Scheduler continuous delivery also includes:

  • Support for new platforms and databases to make the product more flexible and adaptable, based on customers’ business requirements.
  • Delivery of regular security and vulnerability fixes, ensuring compliance with new security standards as they emerge.
  • Release of continuous quality improvements and timely fixes for APARs and defects to enable workflows to run smoothly and reliably at all times.

With IBM Workload Scheduler, customers can trust their software products to be secure, efficient and always up to date with the latest technologies.

For each version, a specific product documentation is released to support you on everything you need to know to start deploying, configuring, designing and monitoring your automation.
All the information about the latest features can be discovered in the  Summary of enhancements.
The release notes and product prerequisites can be found in the Product Requirements page.

For more information on the product lifecycle, see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7014883.

Note that IBM Workload Scheduler version 10.2 will go to End Of Service at least one year after version 10.1 goes to End Of Service.

IBM provides technical support (defect and non-defect) with a continuous delivery structure for a minimum of three years from the product release date. For products released under this policy, extended support can be offered for at least one additional year after the product's End of Support (EOS) date, for an additional cost.

For more information on IBM Software CD support lifecycle policy, see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-continuous-delivery-support-lifecycle-policy.

All the 10.2.x versions are supported as long as 10.2 is supported. It is not mandatory to upgrade to the latest version unless you need one of the following:

  • New functionality, product maintenance and security updates are delivered via CD update packages at the latest version.
  • Product maintenance and security updates provided through your support agreement will be delivered in the next CD update package. For high or critical severity defects (no workaround available), an interim fix may be provided for the most recent CD update package and, upon request, for the second most recent CD update package.
Note: The last sentence on high or critical severity defects supersedes what is stated in the support lifecycle policy
  • New product functionality is not available for previously released CD update packages.

Continuous Delivery releases are delivered every 3 to 6 months, with an average of one release every four months.
