Error description

  • During some delete snapshot operations, the parallel inode
    traversal (PIT) operation may unexpectedly fail with an
    assertion when trying to send the interesting inodes file back
    to the client command.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in 5.2.1.1

    Benefits of the solution:
    By hardening the communication between the parallel inodes
    traversal (PIT) operation and the client command, the GPFS
    daemon (mmfsd) will not assert while servicing the delete
    snapshot request.
    
    Work Around:
    None.
    
    Problem trigger:
    There is no specific trigger that forces this issue to manifest.

    Failure to delete snapshots.
