IJ52569: COMMAND 'COM.IBM.CICS.CM.COMPARE.COMPARERESOURCES' FAILED

Error description

• The customer is getting an Error executing
  com.ibm.cics.cm.compare.compareResources, when using any compare
  function in the CM plugin:
  org.eclipse.core.commands.ExecutionException:
  
  Error executing 'com.ibm.cics.cm.compare.compareResources':jav
  a.lang.NullPointerException.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• When comparing two CICS resources from within any view other
  than a CICS resource table view, the compare function fails.
  This is due to the command handler assuming that the items were
   selected in table view and tries to get the CICS type. When
   this fails, the type variable remains as null, and when it is
   accessed, an NPE occurs.
  

Problem conclusion

• A null guard has been added so that the command handler doesn't
  try to access the type if it isn't set.
  This fix will be made available in Version 5.4.0.15 of the CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in for CICS Explorer.
