The Release Notes contain information about new features, and updates in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud for the August 25, 2024 update.

New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud
 
  • If your organization has security concerns when using public APIs to access IBM Storage Protect for Cloud, in Administration > Security > Trusted IP address settings, you can now enable and configure a trusted IP address range for public APIs.  
  • In Administration > Security, you can now enable MFA policy for local accounts. Once enabled, the multi-factor authentication (MFA) policy will be applied to all local accounts in your tenant.
  • In Auto discovery > Scan profiles, you can now select a scan profile and click Export configuration to download a copy of the scan profile’s configuration.
  • In the event that your tenant exceeds the purchased limit for IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure VMs, Storage, and Entra ID, IBM Storage Protect for Cloud will automatically send an email notification to your tenant to ensure uninterrupted functionality for your organization.
  • In Auto discovery > Scan profiles, when you select a scan profile and click Delete, a confirmation window will appear, allowing you to select a resolution from the following options:
Delete the objects and custom containers along with the profile
*Note: The deletion only applies to scanned objects and configured custom containers. The default containers cannot be deleted.
Keep the objects and custom containers in the system
  • In Job monitor, you can now click the actions (image-20240819074945-1 ) button for each job and select an action from the drop-down menu.
  • On the App management page, you can now configure filters to easily locate app profiles based on specific tenants, services, and statuses.
  • By default, the Integration with Microsoft Azure Event Hubs function will take 24 hours to synchronize the event information to your Microsoft Azure Event Hubs. If you want to change the synchronization frequency, you can seek assistance from IBM support. 
  • In Auto discovery > Scan profiles, when you configure an advanced mode scan profile for Power App or Power Automate objects, with the Specified objects in one container rule selected for containers, you can now configure conditions for the Display name of Owner to filter objects.
  • Notification emails related to subscriptions now contain information about your IBM Storage Protect for Cloud tenant.
  • In Job monitor, when you view details of a job with the Finished/Finished with exception status, you can now view an overview of the objects’ scan results from the Number of objects table.
  • On the Create app profile page, a Recommended label has been added to highlight that the Modern mode method is the recommended option.
  • In Administration > Subscription, you can now click the Licensing Information link to access detailed information about the licenses that are counted for billing purposes.
  • In Job monitor, when exporting a job report, you now have the option to select the All checkbox to include all scan results in the report at once.
  • In Job monitor, after exporting a job report, you can now view the Job summary sheet which provides job-level information.
 
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce
 
  • IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce now supports global full-text search. You can enter your keywords to run a global full-text search of your backup records via the Discover feature. Note that the results of the discover job will only be available for 30 days.
  • By default, only failed records are included in the detailed job report for restore jobs. If you need to view successful and skipped records, please contact support for assistance.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure and Storage
 
  • The notification center on the home page is available now to display subscription expiration alerts, out-of-policy alerts, and BYOS alerts.
  • We're excited to announce the general availability of Azure DevOps backup. 
  • The Azure DevOps service now supports the restoration of specific permission groups in organization settings and project settings.
  • IBM is moving Storage Protect for Cloud Azure to a new consumption-based licensing model for any new customers or existing customers upon recontract/renewal. This provides great flexibility to customers and gives them the ability to tailor their licensing to what they actually use.
  • In this release, all URLs associated with the old user interface will be retired, and will no longer be accessible.
  • The pages displaying objects that can be restored have been improved across all services. It is now possible to configure which columns are displayed on these pages.
  • To align with the new prepaid consumption-based licensing model (for new customers and renewing/recontracting existing customers), new detailed reporting across licensing metrics is now available in our subscription consumption report.
  • The date format for both the IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure environment and notification emails can now be configured in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud > Administration > General settings > Culture settings.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365
 
  • IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365 now supports Dataverse backup for data generated from Project for the web and Power Platform applications, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Pages.
 
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace
 
  • In Report > System auditor, you can now customize a time range to export the report. 
  • In Settings > Notification > Job notification, the master switch Email notification for job completion status has been added. It is enabled by default. If you want to disable job notification settings, you can turn off the toggle.
  • The user interface of the System auditor reports has been optimized to provide a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.
  • In notification emails, you can now click Learn more about IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace to open the documentation center at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spfc.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365
  • In IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365, administrators can now configure the End-user restore settings to control whether to allow the flow creator and owners to export Power Automate cloud flows in Cloud Recovery Portal
  • We have enhanced the retention logic for IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 subscription renewals. If your updated subscription has a shorter retention period than your current configuration, your retention periods will be automatically adjusted to match the new subscription limits. If your updated subscription has the same or longer retention period than your existing configuration, no changes will be made. To verify your configuration and ensure you are aware of any changes, refer to Settings > Retention.
  • For BYOS customers, you can now set a password for encryption keys and configure whether to allow IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 to copy the encryption keys to your BYOS storage weekly through Settings > System > Encryption keys.
  • The Notification center has been updated to display alerts for subscription expiration, out-of-policy conditions, and changes to BYOS. It no longer displays information about purchased and consumed data sizes. For detailed subscription information, refer to the subscription consumption report.
  • IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 now offers enhanced permission control by enabling administrators to assign either View Only or View and Edit permission to users for backup management.
  • If you switch your storage from the default storage to BYOS, you have the option to retain all current backup data stored in the default storage for 90 days. During this time, you can contact the support for assistance with data migration. Further details will be provided in the coming weeks.
  • You now have the ability to restore backup data from either OneDrive or a SharePoint Online site to a Group site.
  • IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 now supports SharePoint Online for Data subject access requests. You can discover and delete site collections from SharePoint Online backups in response to GDPR-related requests.
  • The Recovery Point column is now available in the restore and export job report to show the recovery point selected for restore or export.
 
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal
 
  • IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal now supports end user export of Power Automate cloud flows. Administrators can control whether to allow the flow creator and owners to export Power Automate cloud flows from IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal by configuring the End-user restore settings in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365.
  • The filters in Request history now support multiple selections, and the applied filter conditions are displayed at the top of the table for easy removal.
 
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Partner Portal
  • When configuring the IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 service access for a role, you can now select Custom Security Group to define delegated permissions for the role.
