Error description

  • Load modules may be corrupted during APPLY processing, which may
result in conditions that can cause branches to unpredictable
locations. This can produce varied symptoms including incorrect
output, and disabled wait states which may result in
ABEND071-20. This fix replaces the previous JCLIN to correctly
    link edit this module.
The failure could also bring down DB2 (5740XYR00) with an
ABEND04F following the ABEND071. Using the registers at the
time of the ABEND0C4 just prior to the ABEND071, R14 points
just after a BASSM 0CEF, with R15 pointing to code in CQM#CCSD.
The BASSM was meant to invoke CQMTTEXX, but because of the
APPLY problem, code for CQMTTEXX wasn't there. Instead x'0C2D'
was there, another BASSM using R13. In this case R13 was
6CBD3000 (an invalid address) leading to an ABEND0C4-11 as seen
    in SYSTRACE:
       PGM 011 077C0000 00BD3000 00020011 00000000 00BD3000
The results can be unpredictable depending on the contents of
R13. In this DUMP, the distributed address space (xxxxDIST)
    was the victim.

Local fix

  • This problem was the result of a JCLIN problem.

    A workaround is to:
    1) Receive the base product
    2) Apply and Accept the base Product
    3) then Receive and Apply the maintenance in a subsequent job.
