    ****************************************************************
ZDMF leaks below the line storage in three instances
    1. GZDDBA leaves an orphan DBCTL control block after
initialization of a data base or volume extent map file. Over
time deletion and reallocation of extent map files may build up
a large pool of orphaned below the line DBCTL blocks.

    2. GZDPARS during Group activation does not issue FREEPOOL after
processing the INCLUDEDSN parameter of a GROUP SET statement.
Over time orphaned QSAM buffers accumulate.

    3. Similar issue to 2 occurs when processing an EXCLUDEDSN
GROUP SET parameter. In addition, separate group exclude tables
get allocated for each input data set name request. These
exclude tables are never freed when the data set requests are
deleted. Over time, the these orphaned exclude tables
    accumulate.

4.Repeated activations of a Group without an intervening delete
causes orphaned high private storage. E.g., Group activation
with Simulate followed by Group Activation (or another Group
activation with Simulate). Multiple Group Trace buffers get
    allocated and lost.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. GZDDBA is modified to not keep the DBTL block used for
    database initialization.
    2. GZDPARS is modified to defined RMODE31=BUFF for the QSAM DCBE
so that the QSAM buffer pool is automatically freed when the DCB
    is closed.
    3. The change to GZDPARS for 2 is also effective for the
EXCLUDEDSN parameter processing. In addition, GZDPARS is
modified to allocate a single EXCLUDE data set table for each
GROUP Set control that uses an EXLUDEDSN parameter. GZDPARS
established a chain of EXCLUDEDSN tables in the @ACTPLST
control block. Then whenever the @ACTPLST is reset or deleted
the EXCLUDEDSN tables are also deleted.
    4. GZDACT0 is modified to skip allocated of group trace buffer
if the group already has a group trace buffer allocated.
