Attention
SHA256 GIM client certificates
After applying patch 11.0p530 or newer, Guardium supports SHA256 GIM certificates. This has the following implications:
After applying patch 11.0p530 or newer, Guardium supports SHA256 GIM certificates. This has the following implications:
- If using default certificates, GIM connections are secured using SHA128. Custom certificates using SHA256 are more secure and are recommended for GIM connections.
Note that GIM connectivity is not interrupted after applying this patch. - GIM only verifies bundles signed with SHA256 and requires installing a transitional GIM bundle to support the change from SHA128 to SHA256.

Debian 9 and 10
IBM Security Guardium ends the support for Debian 9 and 10 systems because it reached end of life (https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases). No IBM Security Guardium features, such as Database Activity Monitoring, Classification, or Vulnerability Assessment, will be supported after the following dates:

- For Debian 9, this is effective for all Guardium versions 11.4, 11.5, and 12.0, and upcoming versions released starting July 2024.
- For Debian 10, this is effective for all Guardium versions 11.4, 11.5, and 12.0, and upcoming versions released starting August 2024.

Features and enhancements
SHA256 GIM client certificates
Guardium 11.4 uses GIM certificates with SHA256. For more information, see Updating Guardium Data Protection GIM clients with SHA256 certificates.
Support ability to specify the age of logs processed by S-TAP for Hadoop with Ranger
Guardium 11.4 allows you to specify the age limit, which helps you process valid monitoring data and avoid duplicate or stale logs. Users can now specify how far back the audit history S-TAP for Hadoop with Ranger will begin processing audits. This can be specified in days or hours. The previous behavior of reading from the beginning of the audit history is also available.

Fixed a zlinux instability with loading FAM module. Add a configurable parameter to load/unload FAM during STAP installation/upgrade.
To enable FAM:
- During STAP installation/upgrade, set fam_installed=1 (--fam_installed to 1 using non interactive installation) with shell installation. Or STAP_FAM_INSTALLED 1 with gim installation.
- Enable FAM if FAM was disabled during installation/upgrade, update fam_installed=1 (--fam_installed to 1 using non interactive installation) with shell installation. Or STAP_FAM_INSTALLED 1 with gim installation. And then reboot the server.
