This is the initial RSU fix pack for z/VM 7.4. As such it
contains fixes for the following problems:

ABEND PRG004 in ISFC Timeout Processing
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66778)

Abend in HCPKCDTO due to faulty serialization between the link
I/O layer of ISFC and the handling of the internal message
    completion queue.

    -----

MAC Table Synchronization Errors Following VMRELOCATE
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66764)

A previously relocated user after being logged off and logged
back on reported HCPNIC2797E (MACID already in use) noting the
MACID is still in use for the same userid.

    -----

ABEND PRG004 in HCPSWL for Multi-VSWITCH LAG Configurations
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66777)

When a device in a z/VM Multi-VSWITCH LAG Configuration receives
an asynchronous state change notification from the OSA adapter
just prior to being deactivated from the port group, a PRG004
abend can occur. The handling of the state change notification
within z/VM improperly attempted referencing control blocks
which were deleted when the port was no longer active.

    -----

XFS File System Errors After HPF I/O to Virtual HyperPAV Alias
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66776)

Linux guest XFS file system reports errors when using HPF I/O
requests to 1-END minidisks with guest exploited virtual
HyperPAV Alias devices. Internal control block structures for
the virtual HyperPAV alias devices were not updated prior to
certain functions of I/O translation. This could in some
instances lead to incorrect cylinder specifications on the real
    I/O requests.

Problem conclusion

  • The following actions were taken to resolve the reported
    problems:

ABEND PRG004 in ISFC Timeout Processing
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66778)

ISFC Serialization was expanded to account for the potential
interaction between the Link I/O layer and message queue
handling which led to the abend.

    -----

MAC Table Synchronization Errors Following VMRELOCATE
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66764)

SSI communication used to indicate changes in MAC address usage
was updated to ensure the guest LOGOFF case builds a valid
request which will update the MAC tables on all members of the
    SSI.

    -----

ABEND PRG004 in HCPSWL for Multi-VSWITCH LAG Configurations
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66777)

The processing of the state change notification received from
the OSA adapter was updated to verify the network connection for
the port is still operational before attempting recovery. If
the port is no longer operational, there is no need to process
the state change and it will be discarded.

    -----

XFS File System Errors After HPF I/O to Virtual HyperPAV Alias
    (z/VM 7.3 APAR VM66776)

HPF I/O translation was updated to ensure internal control block
structures for virtual HyperPAV aliases are updated prior to
I/O translation. This ensures the I/O requests are now always
translated correctly for the current alias usage.
