Abstract:
New Enhanced Driver Maintenance (EDM) min/max MCLs released to support AROM CNTL0018 with the latest available MCLs.
Description
On August 29th 2008 a new CDU Min/Max file was released to RETAIN via MCL007 in the J99675 (CDUMM) stream, Bundle 61a. This new min/max level defines a new 'from' / 'to' MCL level and supports using EDM to concurrently upgrade from Driver 63 to Driver 67 with the latest available MCLs.
MCL007 in the J99675 (CDUMM) stream also prevents an issue where the EDM driver upgrade fails due to a dependency check at the end of the 'make active' step. MCL007 in the J99675(CDUMM) stream defines the D63j FROM point as Bundle #61 and the D67l TO point as Bundle #32.
Recommended Action
Do not attempt to do a Concurrent Driver Upgrade using CDU Min/Max MCL 006(or lower) of the J99675(CDUMM) stream.
Before attempting a Concurrent Driver Upgrade from D63j to D67l you should be sure that you have connected to RETAIN and have pulled down CDU Min/Max MCL J99675.007. This Min/Max MCL can and should be used with D67l concurrent AROM P/N 15R7617, EC: G40968E, Control level 0018.
Additional Information: Note: Using this new min/max MCL and the CNTL0018 AROM will require you to perform multiple MCL sessions to the pre-loaded Alternate SE. You will need to go back into the Pre-Load panels and select the "Additional Pre-Load of MCLs from IBM support System" or DVD option a second time during the EDM process to satisfy this new min/max level. Not competing this second step may cause the 'Make Active' step to fail, saying the MCL requirements have not been met. If this message is encountered you will need to go back into the Pre-Load panels and select the "Additional Pre-Load of MCLs from IBM support System" or DVD option to install the additional MCLs.
A new EDM Sync Point MCL(008) and AROM (CNTL0020) combination is currently being targeted for release late September to early October. A subsequent field communique will be distributed closer to the release/availability of the upcoming final CDU sync point MCL. Attention: The September/October EDM sync point is intended to be the final sync point released to support the concurrent upgrade to Driver 67.
