Description
Driver 86 MCL 008 in N29801 (SE-CDUMM) EC stream was released to RETAIN in bundle 62a (July 30th, 2012)
The Driver 86 FROM point is Bundle 62a and the Driver 93 TO point is Bundle 33.
This EDM min/max MCL 008 addresses and corrects the risk identified in the Mainframe Alert Document # 051512, TIP H205609.
This EDM min/max MCL 008 also lifts any EDM restrictions previously communicated for machines with zBX (M/T 2458) attached.
Recommended Action
Before starting the EDM process to upgrade to Driver-93 you should ensure that you have retrieved and activated through MCL 008 in the N29801 (SE-CDUMM) EC stream.
The following AROMs which contain MCLs thru bundle 32 are required to be used with EDM min/max MCL 008.
1) Concurrent AROM P/N 41U8330 EC: N48195B CNTL0012
2) Concurrent AROM P/N 41U8331 EC: N48196B CNTL0012
CNTL 0012 AROMs are the only AROMs that can be used with EDM min/max MCL 008. No other previously released Concurrent AROMs can be used with EDM min/max MCL 008. The Driver 93 Media (Concurrent and Disruptive) that is needed for upgrading from Driver 86 to Driver 93 is obtainable via ECA 285.
Special Consideration:
SUL CTL 0002 does not contain MCL 001 in the N48197 (OS) EC stream. This MCL is part of the EDM min/max requirement.
When preparing/updating this SUL you should manually add EC N48197 from RETAIN. SUL CTL 0003 and higher does contain MCL 001 in the N48197 (OS) EC stream and does not require special
additional handling in order to update it with latest available MCLs.
Current HMC AROM PN 41U8034, EC N48182B, CL 0004 only contains MCLs through bundle 19. You may need to allow for additional time to bring your HMCs to current Driver 93 bundle levels before starting the EDM process to upgrade to Driver- 93.
Future support for Driver 86:
Starting on July 31st, 2012, Driver 86 will enter "End of MCL Support". No additional MCLs will be released for Driver 86 after this date.
Please consider upgrading to Driver 93 on all z196 machines.
TDR H203558 will be periodically updated with additional useful information regarding upgrading to Driver-93.
