Abstract
This fix pack is a cumulative fix release and addresses some new APARs and internally found issues since the release of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 8.1.0 Fix Pack 33.
Download Description
Java 8 Important Information
This upgrade uninstalls the existing IBM Java 7 and installs the latest version of the IBM Java 8 JRE. If any of the Java 7 files were modified since the v8.1 installation, then these modified files are removed during the upgrade process, except for the java.security file. Before you perform the upgrade, back up these modified files to a private location, then after the upgrade reapply the modifications. The Java 8 java.security file has significant differences to the Java 7 java.security file. Review the default Java 8 java.security file and update it to comply with the existing settings in the Java 7 java.security file.
IBM Java 8 does NOT run on some older versions of operating systems, which include the following operating systems:
- AIX 6.1 before Tech Level 9
- Older versions of Linux (due to a GLIBC 2.7 requirement)
- Solaris SPARC 32 bit (IBM Java on Solaris SPARC is 64 bit only)
To address possible security issues, the version of libxml2 included in Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1.0 is updated to v2.13.6.
DT436220
To address possible security issues, the JRE for Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1.0 is updated to IBM JRE 8.0 SR8 FP45.
JSON payloads returned by requests to the OMNIbus ReST API may be incorrectly formatted under locale settings that use a decimal comma instead of a decimal point. In such locales, if the JSON payload includes a decimal number, the JSON value will contain too many commas and will fail to parse as valid JSON data when passed into a JSON parser. This problem has been fixed.

The SNMP 'Heartbeat' alerts have very similar Identifiers as the generic ProbeWatch alerts that are generated when the 'ProbeWatchHeartbeatInterval' is set. This meant that the 'sm_check_probe_heartbeats' trigger acted on SNMP 'Heartbeat' alerts, generating false alarms about missing heartbeats. The trigger has been corrected to ignore SNMP Heartbeat alerts.

In Java 8.0.8.5, included in OMNIbus Core Fix Pack 31, the CMS provider library used by the ikeyman application was updated, changing the default version of the CMS keystore from version 4 to version 6. This update forces ikeyman to use version 4, as version 6 is incompatible with the version of GSKit currently bundled with OMNIbus.

Misleading errors may be logged in the ObjectServer log when HTTPS API calls are made. This can happen when HTTPS clients, such as curl, add extra encryption bytes to the request data. The extra bytes are now ignored for HTTPS API calls, as they are not part of the requests being made.
Prerequisites
Fixpacks are cumulative. The latest Fixpack can be applied to update OMNIbus core to the latest Fixpack version.

If your computer has internet access and you have an IBM Passport Advantage account, you can update packages directly from Passport Advantage.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and make sure the "Search service repositories during installation and updates" is checked.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli NetcoolcOMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
Extract the Fixpack into a new temporary directory, then specify the repository in the preferences before you update. Each package must be extracted into a new directory.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and add a repository. Give the location of the extracted OMNIbusRepository/composite directory.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
If you downloaded the ESD for Fix Pack 34, then:
1. Create a directory to store the files and extract the contents of the .zip file into this directory.
2. After you installed Installation Manager either with Administrator or Nonadministrator mode, run the update_gui script to launch Installation Manager into the update panel without the requirement of configuring the update repository.
3. If the script fails, or Installation Manager is installed in Group mode, or you want to run in console mode, then you must configure the update repository as described in the pervious section, Local Repository. The new repository is the extracted OMNIbusRepository/composite directory.
4. Select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
