Summary

IBM has addressed a fix for vulnerabilities in IBM Spectrum Discover. Pillow is vulnerable to remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by improper neutralization of user supplied-input by the PIL.ImageMath.eval function. CVE-2023-50447.

DESCRIPTION:   Pillow could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by improper neutralization of user supplied-input by the PIL.ImageMath.eval function. By sending a specially crafted request using keys that leverage the environment parameter, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system.

Remediation/Fixes

IBM strongly recommends addressing the vulnerability now by upgrading.

Installed versions of IBM Spectrum Discover (2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4) from the IBM Operator catalog in OpenShift can be upgraded to fixed version when the IBM Spectrum Discover 2.1.5 version is available in the IBM Operator Catalog.
