Empty attribute in IBM DOORS - username type attributes show empty, why?

Troubleshooting

Problem

The value for an object's username-type attribute shows empty ("") when it held a valid username before.
This happens for current version and baselines alike.

Symptom

A username-type attribute previously held a valid username value in an object. For example: "JDoe".
The user "JDoe" has since been renamed in the DOORS database's userlist to "DoeJ".
Now the object shows empty "" for this attribute.
