Restoring Individual VM Disks fails because of insufficient space on the datastore

Troubleshooting

Problem

When trying to restore individual virtual machines disks (VMDK) the restore fails with the below error indicating insufficient space on the datastore even if the datastore has enough space to accommodate the specified individual disks :

ANS9365E VMware vStorage API error for virtual machine 'VM_Name'.
IBM Spectrum Protect function name : CreateVM_USCORETask
IBM Spectrum Protect file     : ..\..\common\vm\vmvisdk.cpp (6876)
API return code : 2427
API error message : Insufficient disk space on datastore 'Datastore_Name'.

Symptom

The datastore will have enough space for the individual disks however it will not have enough space to accommodate the whole size of the restored VM.
