IBM machine type 8562 withdrawn from marketing
Effective June 30, 2025, IBM will withdraw from marketing select field installed features and all associated conversions that are delivered solely through a modification to the machine's Licensed Internal Code (LIC) for the IBM z15 T02 and IBM LinuxONE III LT2. The last dates you can order the withdrawn products are one day before the effective withdrawal dates.
This withdrawal from marketing includes features and conversions delivered as Capacity on Demand (CoD) records for permanent upgrade, On/Off CoD, CBU, and CPE offerings ordered via the Customer Initiated Upgrade (CIU) application on Resource Link. After June 29, 2025, CIU on Resource Link will not allow and IBM will not accept any new CoD record orders for machine type 8562.
New CoD records for machine type 8562 must be ordered by June 29, 2025. Records must be downloaded within 90 days. After September 30, 2025, CoD record orders for machine type 8562 will be cancelled if the records have not been downloaded.
Installed post paid On/Off CoD records with auto renewal enabled will be renewed for a final time on June 29, 2025 to extend the expiration date to December 26, 2025. Installed prepaid On/Off CoD records with auto renewal enabled will continued to be renewed to extend the expiration date to June 29, 2030.
A CoD record downloaded by September 30, 2025 can be activated until its expiration date, if any:
