    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The server.bat script displays an *
    * error message when JAVA_HOME is not *
    * set and java.exe is not found in the *
    *                      PATH.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When java.exe is not in the PATH and JAVA_HOME is not set,
    an error message is displayed: "The system cannot find the
    batch label specified - eof"
    The server.bat has a goto statement "goto eof" which is meant
    to return from a function. The statement is missing a colon.
    It should read "goto :eof".
    The problem occurs in Liberty 23.0.0.10 through 24.0.0.2.
    To avoid the error message, either add the location of
    java.exe to your PATH or set the JAVA_HOME environment
    variable.

Problem conclusion

  • The server.bat script has been corrected. This means you will
    no longer see the error message complaining about the batch
    label. However, you still need to add the location of
    java.exe to your PATH or set the JAVA_HOME environment
    variable. Otherwise, you will see a different error message
    that says java "is not recognized as an internal or external
    command, operable program or batch file."

    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
    24.0.0.3.
