Troubleshooting
Problem
When trying to increase the size of a filesystem or extend the number of physical partitions in a logical volume, one receives the allocp error.
Symptom
0516-404 allocp: This system cannot fulfill the allocation request. There are not enough free partitions or not enough physical volumes to keep strictness and satisfy allocation requests. The command should be retried with different allocation characteristics.
Cause
The upperbound limit setting for a logical volume is lower than the number of available physical volumes.
Resolving The Problem
Run chlv to increase the number of physical volumes allowed for a logical volume.
chlv -u [number of allowable physical volumes] [logical volume name]
