Affected Domain

DS8900F:
All CKD using extent-level Remote Pair Flashcopy (RPFC).

DS8880:
All CKD using extent-level Remote Pair Flashcopy (RPFC).

Note:
Remote Pair Flashcopy is also known as Preserve Mirror Flashcopy.

Abstract

While CKD extent-level RPFC establish is in process, an LPAR error handling event may cause undetected loss of data on one or more target volumes.

Description

A CKD host can perform multiple RPFC establish operations in a single command.
Each establish operation is performed on the RPFC source first, then on the target.

If an establish operation is interrupted by an error handling event (warmstart or sudden LPAR failover) on the RPFC secondary system, undetected data loss may occur on one or more target volumes.
