FlashSystem 9500 - Critical Issues Requiring Upgrade

Abstract

FlashSystem 9500 systems should be upgraded to the recommended code levels at the earliest opportunity.

A number of critical issues which can cause unplanned loss of access to data on FlashSystem 9500 have been fixed in recent PTFs.
While these issues can also affect other products in the IBM FlashSystem family, FlashSystem 9500 systems are at greater risk due to typically more complex configuration and usage patterns.
IBM strongly recommends any FlashSystem 9500 systems not running the recommended PTF level on their current release stream are upgraded at the earliest opportunity. The recommended PTFs in Long-Term Support release streams are currently 8.5.0.11 or higher and 8.6.0.3 or higher.
