Rational Agent Controller (RAC)

• Rational Application Developer 9.7 will be the last version to support RAC on all platforms. Going forward, we will only release on Windows and Linux.

RERTCS

• RERTCS does not install with RTC 6.0.2 and above. It installs properly with RTC versions 6.0 and 6.0.1.
• An error message displays in Install Manager for RTC versions 6.0.2 and above.

Windows 32-bit support

• Support for Windows 32-bit has been removed due to Node.js v8 not supporting 32-bit.

All Dojo tools and libraries

• Marketplace evolution (preference for JQuery over Dojo)
• Reduced footprint and improved performance
• Replacement: Move to JQuery

Java 6

• This Java version is no longer supported and has been removed from the product.

• Replacement: Use these capabilities within the Rational Software Architect Designer family of offerings, where they continue to be available.

Support for SUSE Linux distributions on desktops

  Replacement: Always use the Eclipse preference store management.
• The USERID and PASSWORD attributes for the projectSetImport Ant task.
  Replacement: Define an authentication child element to the task for each repository that requires user name and password credentials.

Java Visual Editor (JVE)

• Replacement: Use one of the available open-source software alternatives.

• Incompatible with JSF 2
• Replacement: Move to JSF 2 or to alternate programming model.

Tools for IBM Workload Deployer and PureApplication System 

• IBM Smart Cloud Enterprise (SCE) is no longer operational to work with IBM Workload
• Replacement: Use alternatives (Cloud Orchestrator, Bluemix).

FTP import and export functions 

• Replacement: Use a different import-export modality.

HTTP import function 

• Replacement: Use a different import modality.

Support for Profiling and Code Coverage of applications running on Java 5 JVM

• Profiling and code coverage is no longer supported on applications running on Java 5 JVM. This include running locally on Rational Application Developer v95 and remotely using Rational Agent Controller v95.
• Use previous versions of Rational Agent Controller (e.g. v9.1.x) instead.

Rational ClearCase SCM adapter 

• This component is no longer the preferred solution for ClearCase integration with Eclipse.
• Replacement: Use Rational ClearTeam Explorer (CTE)

Dojo Objective Harness (DOH)

• Replacement: Obtain DOH directly from the Dojo foundation at https://dojotoolkit.org

Dojo-based, site designing Portlet feature for Portal

• Replacement: Perform this work through the Portal console.

Rational Unified Process Process Advisor and Process Browser features

• Obsolete feature

Rational RequisitePro integration 

• The Rational Requisite Pro product has been withdrawn from the market.
• Replacement: Link requirements to code indirectly using Rational Team Concert-DOORS Next Generation integration

Tools support for Struts 1.1 and Tiles

• These tools were specific to Struts 1.x which reached end of life in 2013
• Replacement: Work with Struts Tiles using a standard Web Project by bringing your own 2.x or newer libraries.

Product Feedback feature (also known as"Phone Home") 

• Can cause unnecessary performance and/or functional issues
• Contact IBM Support for support issues.

TPTP Test component 

• Obsolete feature

Installable image for WebSphere Application Server for Developers V7.0

• WebSphere Application Server V7.0 became eligible (per the IBM Software Support Lifecycle Policy) to go to End of Service in April 2014. It is likely that WebSphere Application Server V7.0 will reach end of service long before Rational Application Developer 9.5 reaches end of service
• Replacement: Obtain an installable image from an older version of Rational Application Developer or obtain it directly from ibm.com. The server tools for this WebSphere Application Server version are not removed from Rational Application Developer 9.5, so it is still possible to use Rational Application Developer 9.5 to work develop and maintain applications targeted to WebSphere Application Server V7.0.

• Support for analyzing static JDBC result sets.

Firebug integration into Eclipse

The following functions are removed:

• The ability to start an Eclipse debug session and connect to the Firebug JavaScript debugger.
• Viewing the JavaScript debug stack, controlling breakpoints and stepping through JavaScript code from within Eclipse.

Users can continue to develop web applications using Rational Application Developer and debug them directly using Firebug in Firefox or other JavaScript debuggers.

Communications Enabled Application (CEA) Dojo Widget Tooling

The following functions are removed:

• "CEA Widgets" facet that configures a web project with CEA Dojo Widgets implementation resources.
• Palette drawer containing the CEA Dojo Widgets.

Existing applications that use the CEA Dojo widgets will continue to work within Rational Application Developer. 

CEA samples and help have also been removed. 

Although CEA tooling is removed, customers can still develop web applications that use CEA widgets using the standard Web Tools tooling:

1. Use the Web Project wizard to create a standard web project.
2. Manually copy in CEA from the WebSphere Server containing the CEA Widgets.
3. Continue to create/edit web pages using the Web Page Wizard and Rich Page Editor. 

This removal does not prevent customers from developing CEA applications.

SDO Mediator Tooling

The following functions are removed:

• "JDBC Mediator" facet which configures a dynamic web project with Java libraries for the SDO-based JDBC Mediator.
• Palette items "SDO Relational Record" and "SDO Relational Record List" in the "Data and Services" drawer.
• "SDO Relational Records" category in the Page Data view.

Applications written using the SDO Mediator runtime provided by WebSphere Application Server will continue to function and can still be developed and maintained using source code editors in Rational Application Developer.

Web Site Navigation Facet

The Web Site Navigation facet was removed. Because of the removal of the facet:

• The Web Site Navigation icon is not displayed in the Project Explorer view. (For example, if you import a project that has the Web Site Navigation facet installed from an earlier version of the product.)
• The Site category in the palette view is not available.

Tooling support for EJB 1.x and 2.x

Tools for EJB 1.x and 2.x were deprecated in favor of EJB 3.0 and the Java Persistence API (JPA).  In support of legacy applications, the tooling support for EJB 1.x and 2.x will be on a best-effort basis.
