Service bulletin 210: Potential function loss, data loss, and system outage with APAR PJ46819 applied

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

With APAR PJ46819, a 000004 (OPR-4) system error might occur when the z/TPF system tries to rebuild a 64-bit IBM MQ queue during restart. As a result, the queue is unusable when the system reaches NORM state. Apply APAR PJ47256 to resolve this issue.

Content

With APAR PJ46819 applied, a 64-bit IBM MQ queue with enough persistent message data on the queue during an IPL might result in a 000004 system error during restart. As a result of the system error, the ECB that was restoring messages to the queue exits early and a flag in the queue is not reset. Without the flag reset, a 000010 (OPR-10) system error occurs when the z/TPF system tries to unsweep the queue. In this situation, the only way to return the queue to a usable state is to clear the queue and IPL the system.

APAR PJ47256 resolves the issue that causes the 000004 system error. Therefore, the 000010 system error will not occur later in NORM state. APAR PJ47256 also updates the ZMQSC CLEAR QL command to clear the relevant flags.
