Problem
Starting a new Cognos Analytics install fails even when a supported version of Oracle database along with their latest JDBC driver is used. Even when all the permissions have been granted and a tablespace has been allocated for content store database and TNSPING succeeds, starting Cognos Analytics Server results in error message indicating that some content store table rows cannot be populated because of incorrect datatypes being injected into them.
This can create issues for customers using version Oracle DB 23c in either Content Store or their data sources because only one version of driver per database type is allowed to stay inside /ibm/cognos/analytics/driver folder.
Symptom
When starting a fresh install of Cognos Analytics with its content store configured with a supported Oracle database version, following error is seen.
ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column.
