IT45504: FILE INDEXING FAILS TO UPLOAD FILELIST.ZIP FILE TO IBM STORAGE PROTECT PLUS SERVER.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• For some virtual machines, file indexing may fail to upload the
  filelist.zip file to the Storage Protect Plus server due to the
  size of the file.
  
  Virtual machines with numerous folders and files to be indexed
  can cause the filelist.zip to grow excessively large, leading to
  out-of-memory errors on the Storage Protect Plus server

Local fix

• The maximum heap size of the reverse proxy can be increased to
  handle large file indices.
  To increase the maximum heap size, modify the
  /usr/lib/systemd/system/reverse-proxy.service file and add a
  -Xmx2400m parameter after the ExecStart=/bin/java statement
  (i.e., change the line to start with "ExecStart=/bin/java
  -Xmx2400m").

Problem conclusion

• IBM Spectrum Protect Plus prior to 10.1.17, the reverse proxy
  does not have an explicit maximum heap size, which results in
  the reverse proxy exhausting its heap memory when executing a
  large file indexing job. In IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.17,
  the maximum heap size of the reverse proxy has been increased to
  allow for larger file indexing jobs to complete.
