Service bulletin 209: Potential data loss and system outage with 31-bit IBM MQ queues

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

Unswept messages for 31-bit IBM MQ queues might not be rebuilt correctly from the z/TPF recovery log, which can result in errors that cause data loss and system outages. Apply APAR PJ47250 to resolve these issues.

Content

009324 and 009326 system errors can occur when messages for 31-bit IBM MQ queues are incorrectly rebuilt from the z/TPF recovery log, especially if there are unswept messages on the log. To resolve these issues, you might need to clear the recovery log or the affected 31-bit IBM MQ queue, which can result in data loss. If a corrupt message is not removed from the problematic queue before the system reaches NORM state, the system might restart. APAR PJ47250 resolves these issues.

Note: The issues that are corrected with APAR PJ47250 are base issues that existed since z/TPF 1.1 was initially released.
