APAR status

Error description

  • With showNonZeroBlockCountForNonEmptyFiles set, block count is
    always shown as one to report fake block count . This is a
    work-around for faulty applications (e.g., Gnu tar --sparse)
    that erroneously assume  zero st_blocks means the file contains
    no nonzero bytes.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • With showNonZeroBlockCountForNonEmptyFiles set, block count is
    always shown as one to report fake block count . This is a
    work-around for faulty applications (e.g., Gnu tar --sparse)
    that erroneously assume  zero st_blocks means the file contains
    no nonzero bytes.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in 5.1.9.2

    Benefits of the solution:
    Fixed the code by adding new config option afmShowFakeBlockCount
    (default no) to show zero block count after evicting the file
    for AFM enabled filesets.
