APAR status

Error description

  • Problem: The performance degraded after upgraded to
    v5.1.7.0
    
    GPFS Cluster experience slowness after upgrading from
    "5.0.5.0 " to the "5.1.7.0 GPFS Version . Batch jobs
    usually take 30 mnts to complete but afte the GPFS
    upgrade they are taking 6-8 hours to complete.
    
    OS: Linux Kernel 3.10.0-1160.99.1.el7.x86_64
    Reported in GPFS version: V5.1.7.0
    

Local fix

  • It's a defect and the detail is in the above RTC issue.
    

Problem summary

  • When the file is opened with O_APPEND flag, sequential small
    read performance is poor.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Fix the incorrect logic when file is opened with O_APPEND flag.
