Abstract
IBM Operational Decision Manager on Cloud and IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation as a Service are compatible with on-premises versions of IBM Operational Decision Manager.
Content
You can work with decision services outside a cloud Operational Decision Manager (ODM), and still take advantage of the cloud environment.
Decision service artifacts (hybrid cloud)
You can deploy or import a decision service between a cloud ODM and an on-premises ODM. This hybrid approach to developing decision services works with the following cloud releases and on-premises ODMs:
| ODM on Cloud | Cloud Pak for Business Automation as a Service | On-premises ODM version |
| 2025.07 | 2025.07 | 9.5 |
| 2024.07 | 2024.07, 2024.10 | 9.0 |
| N.A. | 2024.01, 2024.04 | 8.12 |
| 2023.04 | 2023 releases | 8.11 |
Note: There is no earlier cloud ODM currently in use.

- Cloud Pak for Business Automation: Hybrid cloud environments
Limitations
The following limitations apply to using the cloud and on-premises ODMs together:
- You cannot publish a decision service from an on-premises Rule Designer to Decision Center in a cloud ODM. However, you can import a decision service directly into Decision Center.
- The cloud environment only supports the decision engine. If you have an on-premises project that is based on the classic rule engine, you must switch the project to the decision engine before you publish the project to the cloud environment.
