Vulnerability Details

CVEID:   CVE-2023-32007
DESCRIPTION:   Apache Spark could allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system, caused by a flaw in the permission check function. By sending a specially crafted request, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary shell commands on the system.
CVSS Base score: 8.8
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/254113 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2023-30601
DESCRIPTION:   Apache Cassandra could allow a local authenticated attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by a flaw in the FQL/Audit logs implementation. By executing a specially crafted nodetool archive command, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain elevated privileges.
CVSS Base score: 7.8
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/256502 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2023-22946
DESCRIPTION:   Apache Spark could allow a remote authenticated attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by a flaw when using spark-submit. By providing specially crafted configuration-related classes on the classpath, an authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the submitting user..
CVSS Base score: 8.8
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/252824 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2022-39161
DESCRIPTION:   IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, and IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty, when configured to communicate with the Web Server Plug-ins for IBM WebSphere Application Server, could allow an authenticated user to conduct spoofing attacks. A man-in-the-middle attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a certificate issued by a trusted authority to obtain sensitive information. IBM X-Force ID: 235069.
CVSS Base score: 4.8
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/235069 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:A/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2023-34462
DESCRIPTION:   Netty is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a flaw with allocating up to 16MB of heap for each channel during the TLS handshake the SniHandler class. By sending a specially crafted client hello packet, a remote authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a OutOfMemoryError and so result in a denial of service condition.
CVSS Base score: 6.5
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/258713 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2023-29471
DESCRIPTION:   Lightbend Alpakka Kafka could allow a remote authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by the storage of configuration in plain-text in the debug log files. By gaining access to the debug log files, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to obtain credentials information, and use this information to launch further attacks against the affected system.
CVSS Base score: 6.5
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/254073 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2023-40217
DESCRIPTION:   Python could allow a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by a race condition in the SSLSocket module. When the socket is closed before the TLS handshake is complete, the data is treated as if it had been encrypted by TLS. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to bypass the TLS handshake and inject a malicious client certificate into the connection and gain access to the server’s resources without being authenticated.
CVSS Base score: 7.4
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/264374 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2023-27716
DESCRIPTION:   freakchicken kafkaUI-lite could allow a remote attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by incorrect access control. By sending a specially crafted request, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain escalated privileges for the nodes running on it.
CVSS Base score: 9.8
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/258295 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H)

IBM X-Force ID:   256137
DESCRIPTION:   FasterXML Jackson Core is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by improper input validation by the StreamReadConstraints value field. By sending a specially-crafted request, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the application to crash.
CVSS Base score: 5.3
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/256137 for the current score.

Disclaimer

According to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is an "industry open standard designed to convey vulnerability severity and help to determine urgency and priority of response." IBM PROVIDES THE CVSS SCORES ""AS IS"" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF ANY ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL SECURITY VULNERABILITY. In addition to other efforts to address potential vulnerabilities, IBM periodically updates the record of components contained in our product offerings. As part of that effort, if IBM identifies previously unidentified packages in a product/service inventory, we address relevant vulnerabilities regardless of CVE date. Inclusion of an older CVEID does not demonstrate that the referenced product has been used by IBM since that date, nor that IBM was aware of a vulnerability as of that date. We are making clients aware of relevant vulnerabilities as we become aware of them. "Affected Products and Versions" referenced in IBM Security Bulletins are intended to be only products and versions that are supported by IBM and have not passed their end-of-support or warranty date. Thus, failure to reference unsupported or extended-support products and versions in this Security Bulletin does not constitute a determination by IBM that they are unaffected by the vulnerability. Reference to one or more unsupported versions in this Security Bulletin shall not create an obligation for IBM to provide fixes for any unsupported or extended-support products or versions.
