Abstract

A problem has been found where TS7770 (3957-VED, 3948-VED) with code level R5.3 GA (8.53.0.63) or R5.3 PGA1 (8.53.1.21) may encounter a Sick but not Dead (SBND) state resulting in loss of access.

Description

The problem is caused by an internal TS7700 code component not working as intended resulting in the component to enter a hang state.
A TS7700 cluster in such SBND state is no longer properly responsive and requires a reboot to be initiated by an SSR through local intervention.
The issue is therefore impacting any TS7700 operation such as access to the Management Interface (MI), host job processing, copy jobs and the like.
The problem is not fully understood at this time as the development team continues to investigate.
Any pending code update to R5.3 GA (8.53.0.63) or R5.3 PGA1 (8.53.1.21) should be deferred until a workaround or fix is available.
