APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The server can be started in maintenance mode using the
    following command:
    
    DSMSERV maintenance
    
    If the server is successfully started in maintenance mode, this
    is indicated by the following message during server startup:
    
    ANR3415I The server is in maintenance mode.
    
    Maintenance mode is used to avoid disruptions during maintenance
    and reconfiguration tasks, and the following operations are
    disabled:
    
    Administrative command schedules
    Client schedules
    Reclamation of storage space on the server
    Inventory expiration
    Migration of storage pools
    Client sessions
    
    In addition to the above, starting the IBM Spectrum Protect
    server in maintenance mode should also prevent servermon process
    from automatically starting during server initialization.
    However, this is not the case.
    
    This APAR is to address checking an additional flag during
    startup to prevent servermon from starting in maintenance mode.
    The IBM Docs page for starting the server in maintenance mode
    will also be updated to add servermon to the list of operations
    that are disabled in maintenance mode.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect / Protect Plus Versions Affected: IBM
    Spectrum Protect server V8.1 on all supported platforms.
