IJ48707: VIOS CAN CRASH DURING ASYNC EVENT ON UNMAPPED VFCHOST APPLIES TO AIX 7300-03

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After unmapping vfchost, a crash may occur on the VIOS
when trying to forward and asynchronous event to client
    adapter.
The stack trace is as below :

Local fix

  • N/A

Problem summary

  • VIOS crashes in vfc host stack for an async event, when the
vfc host is being removed via rmdev or when vfc adapter
    un-configuration on client lpar.

Problem conclusion

  • Validate VFC instance and protocol handle before
consuming the async event in vfchost for async events.

Temporary fix
