Summary

Guardium appliances can be upgraded by using backup, rebuild, restore method. Where a system backup is taken from the original appliance, the appliance is rebuilt on to the newer version, then the backup is restored.
When upgrading a central manager (CM) from 10.6, 11.0 or 11.1 to 11.5, 12.0 or above using this method, the managed units (MU) can lose connection to the CM.
This technote describes how to plan the upgrade to maintain connectivity in the environment.
