  Customer is using a SFG custom protocol to send files to
  listening consumers via FTP.
  They have configured the partner profile FTP details using a
  remote password containing
  special characters like pound or euro symbols.
  If any of those special characters are specified in the
  password, the FTP connection will fail
  with an error code 530 login incorrect or user cannot log in
  and advance status report: "The server reply indicates a
  permanent error condition."
  Using exactly the same password without the special character
  mentioned above works.

Problem conclusion

• RESOLUTION SUMMARY:
  Necessary code changes have been made so that the encryption and
  decryption logic would now use UTF8 as the character set which
  would span all non-ascii characters.
  As part of the fix, CharacterEncoding parameter needs to be
  added to the FtpClientBeginSession and it should be set to UTF8
  so that the password that contains non-ascii characters is sent
  out correctly. More details on CharacterEncoding
  parameter can be obtained from the product documentation in the
  IBM Knowledge Center.
  
  NOTE: IF A USER HAS A PASSWORD CONTAINING
  NON-ASCII CHARACTERS, IT IS ADVISED THAT THEY EDIT THE USER
  AND SAVE SO THAT THE PASSWORD ENCRYPTED USING OLD CODE WILL NOW
  BE ENCRYPTED CORRECTLY AND SAVED IN THE DB.
