Troubleshooting
Problem
In IBM Rational Developer for i 9.9, the permanent activation kit is installed through Help/Install New Software.
At times, this license application appears to succeed; however, the license display continues to show either as Trial with an eventual expiration or Nodelock.
Symptom
After applying the license, Help/Manage Licenses still shows RPG and COBOL Tools as Trial or the license registers as Nodelock.

However, the Help/About IBM Rational Developer for i/Installation Details shows the permanent license installed.

Cause
- A user with Administrator rights needs to install the license if a non-Administrator user will be using the workbench.
- Download the license file to the local machine, instead of accessing from a network drive.
- Nodelock status needs to be corrected.
Environment
Windows
Diagnosing The Problem
Initial installation before applying the license will show in the user's workspace .log file:
!MESSAGE Its a tryBuy licenseAfter applying the license, it appears to be installed, but is nodelocked:

To resolve the license type and status:

- Select the Permanent Activation kit entry.
- Select Uninstall.

- Review and confirm on the next screen.
- Restart the workspace.
- Reapply the license through Help/Install New Software/Add.
- Restart the workspace again.
The RDi 9.9 License now shows up as applied and Permanent.
