Summary
In order to be successful in recording or playing back browser tests with the IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) UI Test perspective, it is required to have the browser driver used by RFT match the version of the browser on the test machine. RFT checks for this correspondence along the recording and playback paths and prompts the user with an opportunity to download the correct driver for the browser version, if there is a mismatch.
With the arrival of Chrome 115, there have been some file structure changes on the site from which RFT performs the download. The result is that the download attempt within RFT fails.
Steps
There is a manual process to work around this issue.
1) Close RFT. Visit https://chromedriver.chromium.org/
2) Click on the hypertext link at "the Chrome for Testing availability dashboard."
3) On the next page that appears, click on the "Stable" hypertext link in the Channel column.
4) Now you come to a list of URLs based on the binary you want and your platform. Choose the URL that matches your chrome version, "chromedriver" and your platform (most likely win64).
5) Visit that URL in your browser. It should pop up a Save dialog box.
6) Save the zip to a memorable location.
7) Unzip it.
8) The contents will include a new chromedriver.exe. Copy that to your RFT configuration directory (C:\ProgramData\IBM\RFT\configuration).
