This article outlines how to configure SMTP authentication in QRadar. To complete this procedure, you must have admin permissions to the QRadar Console.


How to configure SMTP authentication in QRadar and confirm that the configuration is working as expected.


QRadar 7.5.0 and later.


QRadar can be configured for SMTP authentication to external mail servers. By default, QRadar is configured with a localhost email. This technical note walks administrators through the procedure to configure email notifications for your QRadar Console to send system messages, rule responses, and reports to external users.
  1. Log in to the QRadar Console as an administrator.
  2. Click the Admin tab.
  3. Click the Email Server Management icon.
  4. For the email server you want to configure, Click the three dots on the right, then Click Edit.
  5. On the Edit Email Server page, you can input the following.
    , Port, Description, UserID, and Password that is provided by the administrator of the Email Server and Enable TLS.

  7. Click Save to save your configuration.
  8. Verify that the configured email server is reachable from the QRadar host.
    1. Click System and License Management from the Admin tab.
    2. Double-click the listed Console.
    3. Select the Email Server tab.
    4. In the Email Server Connectivity section click "Test Connection". 
  9. Review the test results.
