These instructions assist administrators in upgrading the Java (JRE) for IBM License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool (ART) and IBM License Key Server Administration Agent.

Environment

These instructions apply to IBM License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool and IBM License Key Server Administration Agent 9.0 and higher.

Steps

Upgrading the JRE for a WebSphere Liberty installation

Based on Updating the Liberty Java runtime environment or software development kit

  1. Download the Java either from Fix Central or from IBM SDK Java Technology Edition Version 8.0 for WebSphere Liberty using Archives page.
  2. Stop the server IBM License Key Server Administration Agent (iclagent).
  3. Stop the server IBM License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool (ART).
  4. Navigate to the original installation directory for Administration Agent and ART, and rename the JRE folder
    <AGENT_INSTALL_DIR>/jre to <AGENT_INSTALL_DIR>/jre_old
    <ART_INSTALL_DIR>/jre     to <ART_INSTALL_DIR>/jre_old
  5. To ensure that the original JRE is kept as a backup if a restore is required.
    Example (Linux): mv <ART_INSTALL_DIR>/jre <ART_INSTALL_DIR>/jre_old
  6. Extract the new JRE file provided by support to the installation directory.
    Example (Linux): 
    	tar zxvf ibm-java-jre-7.1-4.50-linux-x86_64.tgz -C <OrigInstallDir>/
	mv <OrigInstallDir>/server/ibm-java-x86_64-71/jre <OrigInstallDir>/
  7. Restart the servers.
  8. Start the server IBM LKS Administration Agent.
  9. Start the server IBM LKS Administration and Reporting Tool (ART).
