Question

What about IBM VIOS support when Third Vendor Application is installed?

 

Answer

Virtual I/O Server is a closed appliance.

IBM did not test all existing third vendor application, this is why installation of third vendor application is not recommended.

IBM PowerVM Remote Support will not provide any support for troubleshooting the installation if you decide to install that third vendor product.

For future support, IBM PowerVM Support Team will perform a problem determination even with a product not part of the “VIOS recognized list”.

 

If PowerVM team suspect this is related to a third vendor application and that application is not part of the VIOS Recognized list, support team will request first to remove it before proceeding further.

 

The list of application (also known as “VIOS recognized list”) that are allowed to be installed and run in the Virtual I/O Server partition are available at the following URL:

For any problem with those applications, please, contact the third vendor directly.
