Abstract

When you utilize virtual Fibre channel adapters that are assigned to Linux logical partitions that run on SLES 15 SP4, or later, a temporary loss of paths can occur.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 15, Service Pack (SP) 4, or later
IBM Systems Affected
PowerVM-based POWER9 or Power10 system.
I/O Devices Affected
Virtual Fibre Channel adapters that are assigned to a Linux logical partition.
Symptoms
This issue can result in a loss of all paths to storage, leading to filesystems that are being remounted as read-only.
Workaround
You can disable ibmvfc.mq by completing the following steps:
  1. Create a file in /etc/modprobe.d/ by running the following command:  echo "options ibmvfc mq=0" > /etc/modprobe.d/98-ibmvfc.conf
  2. Regenerate the initramfs by using dracut. Run the following command: dracut -f
  3. Restart the system by running the following command: reboot
